UD-356 12-inch Refurbished Dixie Dredge
This standard model Dixie Dredge was completely restored by DMC in 2006, and has only been used for one 4-month period in 2007 since then. The restoration included repair and/or replacement of all machinery components, repair as needed of all steelwork, replacement of hydraulic piping, hoses and fittings, replacement of suction and discharge piping including suction hose, replacement of all operating gauges, installation of new windows, new cable, replacement of cutterhead, repair of cutterhead drive gear, and blasting and repainting the entire dredge. The dredge pump is a low-hour, oversized
14x12 AMSCO (40” impeller). The engines were both replaced with zero-hour remans with new clutches. A 608-hp GM 16V-71 main engine powers the
dredge pump through a 3:1 Cotta gear, and auxiliary power is provided by a
228-hp GM 6-71. Hauling/hoisting machinery is all new. The new
short-shaft “Hydra-Drive” cutter system is rated at 100-hp. The 3-piece hull measures 50’ x 20’ x 5’ when assembled, and supports a 30’ ladder which allows 26’ maximum depth. The machinery all remains in excellent
condition, having been started and maintained at regular intervals. This dredge only need a good sandblasting and paint job, along with some routine maintenance, to be returned to first-class condition. It is available for a short
time, as-is, where-is, on the south Texas Gulf Coast, for only $400,000. After that it will be returned to DMC and refurbished.
