The Western Dredging Association holds an annual conference for dredging and related industry professionals to showcase their products and services and network. The 2011 conference, held in Nashville, TN in June, honored Dredge & Marine Company's Don King with its prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award for 2011. Celebrating his 50th year in the dredging industry, King was chosen for the WEDA honor for “his outstanding contributions to the dredging industry and the Western Dredging Association, efforts to promote the state of knowledge as it relates to dredging applications, marine engineering, and the enhancement of the marine environment, and his unsurpassed initiative, tireless energy, and dedication.”
“I was overwhelmed as Mr. Patella read the text of the award,” says King. “I don't know where he got all of his information but it was certainly flattering.”
